Joseph Webber Jackson was a son of General James Jackson. He was a lawyer, Mayor of Savannah, served in both houses of the Georgia Legislature and in the U.S. House of Representatives, 1850-1853, and was Colonel of the 1st Georgia Regiment of Militia. The Arkansas State Board of Barber Examiners was established in 1937 to ensure that barbers would be professionally trained and licensed. Beginning in 1937, aspiring barbers were required to attend barber school and then complete an 18-month apprenticeship.
